Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) Training Program

Once enrolled in the CRS program, participants will have access to a host of services designed to help them attain and maintain the CRS certificate and employment. Services include: Therapy, Workforce Development and Life Coaching.

A Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) is an individual with personal, lived experience in recovery from a substance use disorder. Drawing from their own recovery journey, they provide valuable insight, encouragement, and support to individuals working toward their own recovery goals. Recovery Specialists offer a unique peer perspective that fosters hope, understanding, and empowerment.

A CRS is not a therapist, sponsor, or case manager. Instead, they serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator, helping individuals navigate challenges, build resilience, and strengthen their recovery support systems.

You must have at least 18 months in recovery, in a continuous manner of personal, lived recovery experience.
Minimum high school diploma/GED.
Adults 18 years or older

Participation Requirements

Commitment to a 10-week program schedule (78 hours)
Consistent attendance and active participation
Statement of Lived Experience: A minimum 1000 word essay describing your experience with recovery and your history of sustained recovery.
Examination: Once application is approved, applicant must pass the PCB Examination for Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS examination).
